Craps Stupid Move or Smart Move?

My buddies and I call ourselves The Five Riders, with our tongues firmly placed towards our cheeks however; and we are usually the black chip kind of players in Craps, one of the best casino games. Two of our members wager orange chip and we prefer playing at the $25 and $100 tables.

We wager at $25 tables when the other Golden Touch Craps members join us prefer playing lower stakes. Well, it’s fine too but when the table is full of our Golden Touch members the game goes smoothly because everyone are aware of the casinos’ pay off bets. Our friends know when to make their wagers; how to push their bets and how to handle dealers who are often totally bored with dealing a craps game.

So one evening we walked into a high end casino in Las Vegas that had two open tables, both of them with $10 minimums. There were a number of people at one of the tables; the other was empty. I walked up to the pit boss and requested him to make the empty table a $100 minimum for the five of us. We also told him that we were expecting a few more friends who would join in and bet at $25 minimums if he would allow that.

In Las Vegas the pit boss can do what he wants. He can offer a $100 table and also allow other people to wager $25 minimums at the same table. It is done at his discretion and this is called ‘Grandfathering’, even if you weren’t playing at the table when the minimum was raised. The pit boss then said he wanted two $10 tables. Imagine, was this guy smart or stupid? Think about it.

Okay, here is the solution: He was not smart at all. Five $100 minimum players are an equivalent to fifty $10 players; in other words we Five Horseman equal to 50 $10 players — enough to fill in 4 whole craps tables of $10 players. Put in the other four $25 players who are expected to arrive and that’s equal to 60 players at a $10 table. Now you have five tables with 12 players each at $10 minimum tables using just a single group of players.
